William A. Halter

William A. Halter has served as a member of our board of directors since October 2004. Mr. Halter has been the Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas since January 2007. Mr. Halter was Acting Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the Social Security Administration from 1999 to 2001. From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Halter served as Senior Advisor of the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President of the United States. Mr. Halter also served as Economist for the Joint Economic Committee of Congress and as Chief Economist for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance. Prior to entering public service, he was an Associate at McKinsey and Company. Mr. Halter is a Trustee Emeritus of Stanford University where he chaired the Academic Policy Committee and serves on the Humanities and Sciences Council. Mr. Halter received his B.A. from Stanford University and his M.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
